VICENTE TURNS ASIDE 36; TITANS FALL IN OVERTIME TO PORT COLBORNE

BRANTFORD, ONT – The Brantford Titans returned home on Thursday to conclude a home and home series with the Port Colborne Sailors. The Sailors took the first contest 3-1 this past Friday and lead the season series 3-0 heading into Thursday’s game.

The two teams would skate through a scoreless first period with the Titans outshooting the Sailors 13-10 after 20. The Titans were 0 for 2 on the power play in the first period with numerous dangerous chances that JJ Salajko turned aside. Port Colborne had their fair share of chances as Carter Vicente turned aside 10 shots in the opening period.

In the second period, both teams would find the back of the net on the power play. First it would be Brody Coe having the puck land on his stick after the point shot was deflected and he was all alone at the side of the net to make it 1-0 Sailors, 12:21 into the 2nd. Just over a minute later, it would be Adam Stipan collecting his own power play goal to tie the game 1-1 with Ethan Szabo and Tyler Crisostomo picking up the assists. It would remain tied at 1 for the rest of the middle frame with Port Colborne leading in the shot department 23-21.

It would be a scoreless final frame as well with the game tied at 1 heading to overtime. Shots after 60 minutes 33-27 favouring Port Colborne.

In OT, Carter Vicente would continue to shine in the net stopping numerous grade A chances by the Sailors. Salajko would do the same at the other end as the Titans had a couple of point blank looks on goal. Exactly 5 mins into OT, Brody Coe would score his 2nd of the game as his shot deflected off of Lucas Muhn and beat Vicente to give Port Colborne a 2-1 win.
