BRANTFORD, ONT – The Brantford Titans and St.Catharines Falcons went head to head for the fourth and final time this season with the Titans looking for their first win of the season over St.Catharines.
Falcons would open the scoring 1:32 into the game as Lowe would give his club an early lead. Mostafaie would then extend the lead to 2-0 midway through the opening period before Adam Stipan scored his 8th of the season from the slot on a tape to tape pass from Quinton Kim-Lemay to make it 2-1. The Falcons would respond less than a minute later as Atkinson would receive a pass from Harris to make it 3-1 with 4:50 to play in the first period. Ethan Szabo would then score a similar goal to Stipan’s as he was set up in slot for a pass from Frank to make it 3-2 after 20 minutes. Shots through the first period favoured St.Catharines 13-11.
In the 2nd period, the Falcons would tack on a couple more as Duplessis and Harris would extend the lead to 5-2 chasing Titans goaltender Carter Vicente. Tim Dolan would take over in the net with 4:25 to go in the 2nd period. No more goals would be scored in the middle frame and St. Catharines would carry a 5-2 lead into the 3rd. Shots through 40 were even at 23.
To the 3rd, the Falcons would continue to pepper shots at the Brantford net as they would beat Dolan twice en route to a 7-2 win at the Gretzky Centre. Final shots on goal would favour the Falcons 35-32.
Brantford is back at it tomorrow night in Port Colborne against the Sailors to begin a home and home series with the Sailors. The back half of the mini 2 game series takes place one week from tonight back in Brantford on January 23rd @ 7:30pm.
